BRINGING HOPE

Hope is the state which promotes the desire of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one's life or in the world at large. Despair is often regarded as the opposite of hope. Hope is the "feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best" or the act of "looking forward to something with desire and reasonable confidence" or "feeling that something desired may happen". Hope also means “to cherish a desire with anticipation"; "to desire with expectation of obtainment"; or "to expect with confidence"Napoleon Bonaparte said,  “A leader is a dealer in hope.”

Robert Mattox, social activist and futurist, proposes a social change theory based on the hope phenomenon. There is significant research on the ability of leadership to effect change. Many leadership theories presuppose that an individual who does the right things will be an effective leader. Dr. Larry Stout postulates that certain conditions must exist before even the most talented leaders can lead change. Dr. Stout highlights four conditions necessary to lead change:

1. People (who)

2. Place (where)

3. Position (what)

4. Period (when)

If a leader has a green light in all four conditions, they will be able to lead change. Based on these four conditions, Gyunka needs:

1. People (WHO)

Your support, and partnership is all we need, if we are to see transformation in our lives, communities and the entire state, then we must work together as a people.

2. Place (WHERE)

The only place we have is our state. Nasarawa belongs to all of us, and not to only one or particular tribe. Your tribe, background and religion, all depend on where you find yourself. Since God made us indigenes of Nasarawa State, we must come together and save our State from political warlords who want power at all cost. If we are to see Change in the Country, let start with our Place-our state.

3. Position (WHAT)

Your vote is your right, and so it is your position. The rich, or the best politician cannot vote himself into power, neither can he rule anything. The Position God has given us today, is to help us help others. If we are to see transformation, we must use our positions to bring that transformation. What do you have today, what can we do today to bring transformation?

4. Period (WHEN)

If the populace, or the electorate cannot enjoy the benefits of Democracy now then when? Now is the time that we, as politicians must give the people what we promised to give them. Now is the time to arise and transform our communities. The time we are in now is the time to help the needy, and the hopeless. And this we do happily through our New Hope Foundation.
