Gyunka's Mothers of the Nation
Over the years women have been relegated to the background in issues of the overall development. As a result of political re-awakening and awareness, more women are actively participating in politics. We believe that women have potentials and the right to contribute meaningfully in development.
“Every country deserves to have the best possible leader and that means that women have to be given a chance to compete. If they’re never allowed to compete in the electoral process then the countries are rally robbing themselves of a great deal of talents”- Madeleine K. Albright, NDI Chairman.
We believe that equitable participation of women in politics and governance is essential to building and sustaining democracy. Democracy cannot truly deliver for all of its citizens if half of the population remains under represented in the political arena.
